Even Fox News Couldn’t Hide This

fox-news
From an article on seattletimes.com, originally by two LA Times writers:

“Fox News reported Wednesday that Palin’s lack of knowledge on certain topics also strained relations. Carl Cameron reported that campaign sources told him she had resisted coaching before her faltering Katie Couric interviews; did not understand that Africa was a continent, not a country; and could not name the three countries that are part of the North American Free Trade Agreement — the United States, Canada and Mexico.”

Scary. Did she understand that North America contains more countries than just the United States? I don’t want to bash someone, especially after they’ve just lost a campaign, but is Palin even fit to be governor of Alaska? Even her resistance to coaching signals serious problems. Even the best writers, to use an analogy, get critiqued by their editors, essentially getting “coached.”

It’s nasty and elitist to make fun of someone for being uneducated, but it’s perfectly reasonable to be upset at someone with privilege’s willful inability to educate themselves.
